Anyone who knows OLE MASON JAR co-founder Filipe Ho, knows that he is not your average Joe. His never-meet-a-stranger attitude, boundless energy, and unique style are an intense combination not to be ignored. To know Filipe, is to love him; which is why we have decided to devote this summer to delving into the innermost workings (ahem–organized chaos) that is Filipe Ho.
We will be checking in periodically with Filipe to find out exactly what he is up to this summer. Our first entry is a glimpse of Filipe’s Memorial Day festivities, and how he celebrated in true North Carolina style.
One thing every good southern boy should know are the elements of a good grill/cook out, especially if you are from North Carolina. And barbeque sauce is most definitely on the top of the necessity list. Tomato based, vinegar based, mustard based… it’s all good! This year Filipe enjoyed barbeque ribs courtesy of Big Moe’s Barbeque Sauce, made in Wilmington, N.C. Found mainly in grocery stores along the North Carolina coast, nothing tastes better on your favorite grilled meat. As a perfect compliment to a big ole slab of ribs, there must be baked beans, potato salad, strawberry shortcake, and an extra-large glass of sweet tea…in a mason jar, of course! A few yard games in the heat of the day on a full stomach called for a moment of relaxation in the hammock! Even with a full day of family, friends, food and fun, we made sure to honor the heroic American soldiers that have given their lives for our great country.

Want more Filipe? Be on the lookout as we find out more of “Filipe’s Likes” this summer! We know there is so much we could cover about Filipe, but the summer is only so long. If you have any specific questions about what Mr. Ho is up to, please send topic suggestions to: SAM@olemasonjar.com. We may just write about it!
