Welcome to Discovery,
It’s 2015 and we are beyond excited for what we have in store for you this year! Each month the Music & Lifestyle department will bring you the latest and greatest music releases, concert updates, fashion trends, and much more.
We can’t get enough of an up-and-coming producer that’s known under the alias Vanic. From Vancouver, British Colombia; Vanic has taken on projects with Lana Del Rey, Bon Iver, and most recently Zella Day. Each one of his releases have reached over one million plays and he’s only been at it for a year.
Please enjoy the playlist below featuring new music from Vanic x Zella Day, ZHU, K.Flay, and Odesza. We also found some re-makes of favorites from Ed Sheeran, Coldplay, and Zedd.
Another favorite release of ours is Death Cab for Cutie’s new single, “Black Sun”. Though the production has similarities to Silversun Pickups, needless to say Ben Gibbard’s writing goes unmatched.
With cold weather looking to make a triumphant return where it left off for winter of 2014, the best advice we can give for the first couple of months this year is to layer up. We are really into plaids, wool and denims, as they all compliment each other well texturally, and layer really well. Don't be afraid to add a scarf to your outfit, or thermal underwear for that matter.
Our first concert of 2015 was with North Carolina native Eric Church. [He] played to a sold-out crowd inside the Chelsea at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. In between drinking whiskey neat, Eric was busy putting on a performance that’s going to be nearly impossible to top. But we’ve got all year.
Late this month we caught a club show with Mini Mansions inside the Bunkhouse. Based out of Los Angeles, this band consists of Zach Dawes, Tyler Parkford, and Queens of the Stone Age bassist Michael Shuman. Mostly driven with intense drumming and soft keys, a Mini Mansions performance is one worth seeing in person.
Our next concert for the month of February is with Jack White at Brooklyn Bowl. Oh yes, you read that correctly, Mr. Jack White himself.
Until next time,
